After finishing the first week of my summer internship I headed home to western Illinois for Memorial Day weekend. As I was driving down the interstate and singing along to the radio, I couldn’t help but feel so fortunate to see agriculture all around me.
I began to think about the skills I will be using during my communications internship with Crop Production Services. I grew up on my family’s grain and swine farm and I am very involved in the operation. This summer I am excited to use my knowledge from working on my family’s farm. I have also found that my family’s dinner table conversations about rain and agricultural products are both topics that I will be talking to other farmers about this summer.
While interning for Crop Production Services I will be traveling the eastern part of Illinois. I will be interviewing farmers about products they are using. I will then create testimonies from the information I collect. Throughout the summer I will also document the development of plots by traveling and taking photographs and videos of the fields.
I am so excited to spend my summer working with farmers, wearing work boots, and communicating production agriculture.
